Vintage hardware for modern use

Welcome to the online collection of hardware for the home. I regularly scour the UK for original and unique vintage pieces, focusing primarily on Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras.

During the 1850s -1970s, hardware was designed to last. The work that I do is built on preserving this quality of craftsmanship and reliability.

After selecting each piece, I decide on the most sensitive way to restore it without compromising its character. Therefore I try to retain as many of the original components as possible.

The stock of domestic hardware includes reclaimed kitchen and bathroom taps, showers, bathroom accessories and door hardware. All are carefully restored to modern standards for faultless functionality.

To polish or not to polish

To polish or not to polish

All the hardware has had a long and industrious life. As such, each item invariably shows signs of age. I carefully access all flaws and decide whether to polish or not.

Sometimes I stumble across hardware which has a wonderful time worn patina, even a Verdigris surface. In these cases my aim is to retain this finish, celebrating the heritage of the piece.

When I choose to polish a multi polishing process of the brass surface is carefully done on a buffing wheel and then finished by hand.
